CURSE YOU AI FOR THESE PRICES Runs hot, mega high speeds, easy to install.. but WTF ARE THESE PRICES NOWADAYS???The difference between a gen 4 and gen 5 ssd is pretty insane. But in 2026, why the hell are you even trying to upgrade? Prices are so ridiculously high it’s not even worth it. I cheaped out and got a 1tb for the price of a 2tb ssd… I wanted the quicker read and write speed but at the cost of a liver for f***s sake. The comparison to the 990 PRO is crazy, it’s double the speed for real. But there’s no point in gett
Windows booting and Visual Studio compiling are SO fast! This drive is so, so fast. While I am not able to max out the advertised top speed of 14,800MB/s sequential read, I do get around 13,000MB/s read and write, which is still great! Windows 11 boots so quickly, and compiling software in Visual Studio on my new build takes under a minute where it used to take 4-5 minutes on my last build. This drive stays cool thanks to the Thermalright HR10 2280 PRO Black SSD Cooler I put on it, topping out at 45C under heavy load and 32C-ish under normal load.
lightning fast! This SSD had excellent reviews. After building my new gaming PC, I was quite impressed with how fast the boot process is. Though I haven't played many games on it that I used to play on my old PC build, the games that I do seem to load faster. Expensive, but worth it. If you are dealing with lots of file editing, reading, and saving large files, I'm sure it can be even more noticeable and worth the money.
Fast and Toasty I bought this being the AI price gouging began. 🤞🏼 If you don't *need* a PCIe 5.0 drive, don't buy this until the prices are back to normal. I paid around $370 for this 4TB drive around Black Friday in 2025, and that wasn't much more than a 4TB 4.0 drive at the time, so I figured I might as well opt for the fastest drive before the crazy RAM prices spilled over to SSDs too.The drive runs great, and the Samsung Magician program updated the firmware without any fuss. I've used several SSD brands,
Samsung 9100 PRO 2TB SSD: A Solid Performer, But with a Catch Performance: Sequential vs. RandomThe sequential read/write performance is impressive. As you can see from the first benchmark, the drive consistently hit write speeds of around 1,782 MB/s and read speeds of 1,705 MB/s on my system. This is a significant upgrade from a traditional SATA drive and is more than enough for everyday tasks, large file transfers, and gaming. The performance graph shows a smooth, stable line, indicating that the drive can sustain these speeds without significant drops.
Just what was needed..... Read and write speeds are amazing. Installation is easy and fits nicely next to the other slots. I added a heatsink to lower the temperature, as it sits between 46c to 57c on heavy load, mostly because that drive slot sits under the graphics card. The storage is fine for now. Will upgrade to more, hopefully once the outrageous prices come down. Got it for $189 on Nov. 25, 2025 and as of 05/24/26, it is $444.99.So far it seems pretty reliable and it is compatible with my B850 Gaming WiFi6 Gigabyt
From build quality to speed, it doesn’t disappoint. I've been building PCs for years, and Samsung has always been my go-to brand for storage. The Samsung SSD 9100 PRO 4TB PCIe 5.0x4 fits right in with the quality I’ve come to expect. From build quality to speed, it doesn’t disappoint.Build Quality: Strong and DurableThe first thing I noticed when I took the drive out of the box was how solid it felt. It’s built to last with a sturdy heat spreader and a well-made PCB. This drive doesn’t feel flimsy at all, and I can tell it’s designed to handle he
Fast PCIe 5.0 SSD Performs Well in Home Lab Build The Samsung 9100 PRO 1TB has been a great addition to my home lab server build alongside the i7-14700K and ASUS TUF Z790-Plus motherboard. PCIe 5.0 support on the board lets this drive stretch its legs, and the performance has been everything you would expect from Samsung's flagship line.Boot times on Debian are nearly instant and large file operations finish almost before you notice them starting. The sequential read speeds advertised on the box are not just marketing fluff, the drive genuinely
